Assam Sahitya Sabha Burhidehing Bordumsa Conference

"Assam Sahity sabha"or ''Assam Literary Committee" is basically a literary organization that is non profit and Which is held to promote the culture of Assam and Assamese literature. It was founded in the year 1971. Lakhminath Bezbaruah, Chandrakumar Agarwala and Hemchandra Goswami were known as the trinity who worked effortlessly for the upliftment of Assamese literature. The committee's first president was Padmanath Gohain Baruah ,a big name in the history of Modern Assamese literature.The president of Assam Sahitya Sabha Burhidehing Bordumsa Conference 2018 was Parmananda Rajbonshi.

THE 74th BIENNIAL CONFERENCE OF ASSAM SAHITYA SABHA,2018


Location and Timing - The session for the the Assam literary committee of 2018 was held for four respective days,which set its forth from 1st February to 4th February.It was assembled in Bodousa Sammanay Khetra of Bordumsa, Arunachal Pardesh.

Inaugurations - The Bhimbar Deori Memorial Mandap Stage,was inaugurated by Sabadan Tayeng,Madhab Deori,CEM and Deori autonomous Council.The Benudhar Neog and Lalit Rajkhowa Memorial Delegate Camp,was  inaugurated by Dibrugarh MP Rameswar Teli.The temporary office of the sabha and the reception committee was inaugurated by the former president of the Tinsukia District Prabin Bora.

Procession - The Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, flagged off the colourful traditional Cultural procession,consisting of numerous tribes of Assam and Arunachal Pardesh. The procession was held in the Singpho heritage in Changlang District.

Chowna Mein's speech - The major phrase said by Mein was,''Cultural heritage is our identity and we should strive to protect it and make effort for its enrichment.Cultural exchanges play a pivotal role and develop a sense of brotherhood amongest various ethnic groups and communities''.He said that organizing such a conference in border areas like Bordumsa ,would be a step forward in bringing the cultural heritage of hills and plains together.He recalled the contribution of some novelist and writers like Lummer Dai,Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi,Tokon Pertin and Kenglam,who delicately brought the beauty and struggles of the life in hills,in the form of Assamese literature.Moreover, He said that the history of Arunachal Pardesh cannot be separated from the history of Assam,as because the roots of development in the this hilly terrain began with the Assamese language.He praiseworthy the efforts of Tai Ahom who despite the hardships,maintaining the sanctity of the Buddhist temple,which is constructed in the temporary makeshift place of a village.

People That Accompanied - The newly elected ASS president Parmananda Rajbonshi,MLA Bhaskar Sharma(Margherita,Assam)
MP Rameswar Teli and Namsai District DC RK Sharma,along with some poets,writers,playrightsand
eminent scholars from Assam and Arunachal Pardesh were present at the event.

Programmes and Event - The session also include the inauguration of book fair,exhibition,science exhibition,trade fair, art, craft exhibition and traditional food exhibition.Around 3000 delegates were present at the session along with a huge crowd of audience.Some programmes was held at Singpho Heritage Center, Bordumsa in Arunachal Pardesh.and the main programmes was held at the Sarbananda Singha Memorial Mandap,at Ritu pathar in Burhidihing Mouza in Tinsukia district.The local people of Burhidihing and Bordumsa,extended full cooperation in making the session to a great success.
