Bogibeel bridge, whose length is 4.9 kilometers long, is a combined rail and road bridge. Its construction has been started since 21 April 2002. The opening date of the rail track was 28 February 2018, while it's road track is estimated to be opened within few months this year itself. This bridge is mainly composed of three road tracks and two rail tracks. Being the longest rail road bridge of India, it  serves connectivity of the north and south banks of the river Brahmaputra. It is on its way to serve the interests of many fields by being the longest rail road of India after and further Asia, which is located in Assam.

Location And Connectivity
 The Bogibeel bridge, is mainly located between the districts of Dibrugarh and Dhemaji, north-east India which connects these two districts from north to south respectively. It connects the section of Lumding and Dibrugarh lying south of the Brahmaputra, and the section of Rangia Murkonselek lying north of the Brahmaputra. The rail line is supposed to be connected to Chaulkhowa at the south and Sisi Borgaon and Sirpani at the north  This bridge of double rail track at lower portion and triple road track at upper portion, runs above the river Brahmaputra.
The reason for long duration of Bogibeel Bridge Opening Date, Location and India longest rail-road bridge in Assam's construction, was basically due to its position at moderate rainfall area, where construction is only possible in the dry months and not in the others. The total length of this rail cum road bridge is 4.9 kilometers or 4940 meters.
This bridge, seems to provide connectivity to millions of people, residing at Upper Assam. It will speed up the country's ability for the transportation of various supplements to the international China border. Moreover, it will also benefit several lesser developed regions of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Construction and Design
 The Bogibeel Bridge Opening Date, Location and India longest rail-road bridge in Assam, is basically a truss bridge whose superstructure is composed of truss. It is been designed as a double rail track and triple road track. This bridge has 125 meters spans of concrete and welded steel. It is the longest combined road and rail bridge in India, and the second longest road bridge after Dhola Sadiya Bridge.

Investments 
It is estimated that nearly Rs. 300 crores has been invested for the girders of Bogibeel Bridge. In order to construct 36 girders, the joint venture received an amount of Rs. 987 crores, in the year 2011. Further, due to the modification and transformation to 46 girders, the amount has been increased to Rs. 1300 crores. The total investment is estimated to be Rs. 4857 crores.

The 15 to 16 years of the construction of Bogibeel Bridge is finally at its peak of completion.
